It is unfortunate how in the present world there are thousands of people who divert away from God because they claim that God doesn't exist. They try to reason with logic and science and say there is no God. In fact it's sad but true that even many Muslims refuse to believe in Islam and divert from the religion because they think Islam is illogical, irrelevant and does not apply to our modern era. The question to ask is what makes you think that the Quran is illogical and non-scientific when the Quran is known to be the word of God because of its accuracy in fields of science, history and Arabic linguistics that was revealed 14 centuries ago to a man who could not read or write? It is in fact a great miracle that these facts, which could not have possibly been discovered without the technology of the 20th century, were explicitly stated by the Quran over 1400 years ago which proves that the Quran cannot possibly be from a human being.
Some of the scientific miracles of the Quran are:
▼ The Expansion Of The Universe
"And it is We who have constructed the heaven with might, and verily, it is We who are steadily expanding it."
(The Qur'an, 51:47)
In this context the meaning of "heaven" is described as space and universe.This verse was revealed at the time when astronomy was still weak. Back then until the 20th century, it was known that the universe has a constant nature and it has existed since infinite time. The conclusion reached by science today is that the universe is constantly expanding which the Quran revealed over 1400 years ago.
▼ Orbit
"It is He Who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. They swim along, each in an orbit. "
(The Qur'an, 21:33)
"And the sun runs to its resting place. That is the decree of the Almighty, the All-Knowing. "
(The Qur'an, 37:38)
"By the sky full of paths and orbits."
(The Qur'an, 51:7)
These verses are pretty much self explanatory. It states the fact that the Sun and the Moon moves in a definite orbit and also that the sun is not stationery. According to studies in astronomy, the sun travels roughly 17,280,000 kilometers a day and all the planets and satellites within its gravitation moves the same distance and the entire universe is full of paths and orbits as stated in the Quran.
▼ The Layers of the Atmosphere
"It is He Who created everything on the earth for you and then directed His attention up to heaven and arranged it into seven regular heavens. He has knowledge of all things."
(The Qur'an, 2:29)
I'm sure most of us studied in our science books that the atmosphere is made up of seven layers which are:
1. Troposphere
2. Stratosphere
3. Ozonosphere
4. Mesosphere
5. Thermosphere
6. Ionosphere
7. Exosphere
The word "heavens", which appears in several places in the Qur'an, is used to refer to the sky above the Earth, as well as the entire universe. 14 centuries ago it was believed that the sky was one unified body. But Scientists have found out that the atmosphere of the world is indeed made up of seven layers, each lying on top of another just as the Quran states.
▼ The Formation of Rain
"And it is He Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy (rain). Till when they have carried a heavy-laden cloud, We drive it to a land that is dead, then We cause water (rain) to descend thereon. Then We produce every kind of fruit therewith. Similarly, We shall raise up the dead, so that you may remember or take heed." (7:57)
"And We send the winds fertilizing (to fill heavily the clouds with water), then cause the water (rain) to descend from the sky, and We give it to you to drink, and it is not you who are the owners of its stores " (15:22)
"Have you not seen how God drives along the clouds, then joins them together, then makes them into a stack, and then you see the rain come out of it?"
(The Qur'an, 24:43)
According to this, the formation of rain takes place in three stages. First, the "raw material" of rain rises up into the air with the wind. Later, clouds are formed, and finally raindrops appear.
STAGE 1: " It is God Who sends the winds..."
Clouds are carried along, that is, they are driven along, by the wind.
STAGE 2: ".... which stir up clouds which He spreads about the sky however He wills. He forms them into dark clumps..."
Then, small clouds (cumulus clouds) driven along by the wind join together, forming a larger cloud.
STAGE 3: "…and you see the rain come pouring our from the middle of them"
These verses of the Quran has been confirmed by modern science. The winds carry water particles which are rich in salt up into the atmosphere; these particles which are called 'aerosols' function as water traps and form cloud drops by collecting around the water vapor themselves.
The clouds are formed from water vapor that condenses around the salt crystals or dust particles in the air. The water particles that surround salt crystals and dust particles thicken and form raindrops, so drops that become heavier than the air leave the clouds and start to fall to the ground as rain.
▼ The Seas That Do Not Mix
"He has let loose the two seas, converging together, with a barrier between them they do not break through."
Recent discoveries by oceanographers show that the two seas that come together do not mix because of "surface tension" that is caused by the different densities of their water. This verse was revealed at the time when people had no knowledge of physics or oceanography.
Above are only a few of the many miracles of the Quran where it mentions facts such as aerodynamic forces and flights programmed in birds, oxidation in the blood, the stages of human formed from a drop of semen, the mother's womb, miracles of iron, duality in creation, identity of fingerprint, preservation of pharaoh, the victory of Byzantium and many more.
